Man Drowns After Falling Through Ice In South Algonquin

A South Algonquin man is dead after falling through the ice at his family’s pond.

It happened Monday afternoon at a home on Highway 60.

Killaloe OPP says family members called police out of concern that John Johnson had fallen through the ice.

Police managed to get the 83-year-old out of the water, and tried using CPR.

He was brought to hospital, where he was pronounced dead by accidental drowning.
