The Madawaska Valley Fire Chief has released a fire calls report for the first 11 months of 2017.

Fire Chief Corwin Quade says that after last week’s fire in Barry’s Bay, there have now been 70 calls in the Madawaska Valley in 2017.

Quade says that last week was a busier than usual week for the fire department, as it responded to six calls.

Despite a busier week than usual last week, Quade says there have been less wildfire calls this year because of the wet summer.

According to the report, the total of 70 fires over the course of 2017 do not include the 12 mischief fires started in Barry’s Bay during the late summer months.
