The key to avoiding cyclist-motorist collisions is education.
That’s according to the Renfrew OPP, who attended the most recent Ottawa Valley Cycling and Active Transportation Alliance meeting to discuss cyclist-motorist collisions.
The OPP were invited to attend the most recent OVCATA meeting after it was revealed that there were 42 collisions between vehicles and bikes in the last five years.

OPP Sargent Rob Guty said that while drivers are learning to be respectful of cyclists, the process with new laws can take time to educate both parties.
