The Madawaska Valley Fire Department is asking you to check the fire extinguishers in your home in case they’ve been recalled.
Kidde has announced it’s recalling certain fire extinguishers because of concerns they can become clogged, need extra force to use, can fail to discharge, or the nozzle can detach.
Kidde says it is recalling two styles of its fire extinguishers; those with plastic handles, along with push-bottom Pindicators.
Twenty-three models of Kidde plastic fire extinguishers manufactured between 1973 and 2017 are being recalled. They come in red, white, and silver with ABC or BC ratings. Some of the models had been recalled in 2009 and 2015.
Six models of Kidde push-button Pindicator fire extinguishers manufactured between 1995 and 2017 have also been recalled. These no-gauge push-button extinguishers come in white and red with red or black nozzles.
Kidde says the recall does not include metal handle and valve fire extinguishers.
Anyone concerned about their fire extinguishers can contact Kidde by calling 1-855-233-2882 between 8:30am and 5:00pm from Monday to Friday, or between 9:00am and 3:00pm on the weekend. You can also find out more by clicking here.
