Upper Ottawa Valley OPP have released the results of their Lock It or Lose It campaign focused on preventing thefts from vehicles.

In 2016 alone, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP says they responded to 119 calls about stolen items out of cars, and in 2017 that number is down to just 84 through the first 10 months.

Twice in October, police conducted checks in Pembroke to see how many vehicles were locked. Of 330 vehicles checked, only 35 were unlocked and three had their windows down. Valuables were seen in plain view of 21 locked vehicles as well, according to OPP.
