For the second day in a row, an Ottawa police officer involved in Basil Borutski’s arrest testified during his trial.

Borutski faces first degree murder charges in the deaths of Nathalie Warmerdam, Carol Culleton, and Anastasia Kuzyk in September, 2015.

Sergeant Corey Robertson, who is trained in negotiations, took the stand today and testified that he advised Borutski’s brother Arthur, what to text Basil. These included that Borutski would not be hurt, and requests that he listen to police.

OPP Sergeant Shauna Marshall also testified in court that she had seized guns, ammo, and a note from the field near Kinburn where Borutski was arrested.

The court has entered a not guilty plea on Borutski’s behalf. A lawyer has been appointed to him to ensure he gets a fair trial.
