Chimney Fire Prevention Tips

Ahead of the winter months, residents are being reminded to make sure they’re taking steps to avoid chimney fires.

Madawaska Valley Fire Chief Corwin Quade says that most chimney fires actually start because of wet wood.

Quade also says that chimneys should be cleaned out at least three times a year.

According to Quade, chimney fires are the most common fire calls during the winter months.
