A witness in the trial of Basil Borutski says he was ‘very angry’ the night before three Madawaska Valley women were killed.
Shirl Roesler, a neighbour of Borutski’s at the time of the murders of Carol Culleton, Anastasia Kuzyk, and Nathalie Warmerdam, appeared as a witness in court today.
She says Borutski visited her the night before the murders, and that she had never seen him that agitated.
She also told the court Borutski thought Culleton had been fooling around with other men.
Borutski had borrowed Roesler’s car the day of the murders, and texted her saying it was left at “the cottage”.
Video surveillance showed Borutski driving Roesler’s car on the morning of the murders.
Roesler’s testimony will continue in court tomorrow. Borutski is representing himself at his trial and has remained silent. A not guilty plea has been entered on his behalf and a friend of the court has been assigned to him to ensure he receives a fair trial.
