Mayor Kim Love Says Railway Station Closure Not A Decision Of Council

After a letter to Madawaska Valley Council from a local business owner about the Railway Station Tourism Centre in Barry’s Bay being closed, the mayor has responded.

The letter states that the Railway Station was closed during hours of operation, and is asking for an explanation why.

According to Mayor Kim Love, the reason for closure is a shortage of staff. Love says that as soon as staff becomes available, the station should be open from Wednesday to Friday at the very least.

Love says that in recent days, staff from the municipal offices have worked in the Railway Station.

Love also says that the fact it is not open during regular hours is not a council decision, and that council wants to see the tourism centre open just as much as everyone else does.
