Although there have been a few more thefts from Bancroft’s downtown core, there are less of these crimes overall in the area.
That’s according to Bancroft OPP Constable Philippe Regamey, who says 85 thefts have been reported so far in 2017, compared to 112 at this time last year.
Some of this year’s cases are still unsolved, but others have either been cleared by charges or been deemed unfounded.
The area has also seen a decrease in stolen vehicles; eight stolen vehicles have been reported so far in 2017, versus 10 by this time last year.
