A teen from Madawaska Valley District High School in Barry’s Bay has been sworn in as a student trustee for the Renfrew County District School Board.

Sean McCloskey, a Grade 11 students from Quadeville has been sworn in as a trustee by the school board.

The student trustee position helps provide insight into things like school activities and needs, and helps find mutual issues among the board, school staff and students.

McCloskey will serve a two-year term as trustee, and the first term will overlap with his predecessor Nic Edge, who attends Arnprior District High School. This is done so the new trustee can learn from the one moving on.

Student trustees are awarded an honorarium of $2500 for a complete term, and will have an iPad for board related work.
