Heading into the Labour Day long weekend, Bancroft OPP will be on the lookout for distracted drivers.

Local officers will be taking part in a province-wide campaign targeting distracted driving.

The OPP says you can face fines of up to $2,000, six demerit points, two years without a licence, and even six months in jail for driving while using a hand-held device.

Constable Philippe Regamey says the focus of the campaign will be on distracted driving, however police will also be watching for the other ‘Big Four’ dangerous behaviours behind the wheel.

These include impaired and aggressive driving, along with not wearing a seat belt.
