A Madawaska Valley committee is recommending that council accepts three donation requests.
In its meeting this morning, the Recreation, Heritage and Culture Committee passed three recommendations for funding requests for local events.
The Wilno Recreation Corporation asked for funding to flood the outdoor rink, to cover the cost, if the Madawaska Valley Fire Department needs to get its water from a fire hydrant. The St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation asked for $120 to use the visitor centre and $600 to pay for horse drawn wagon rides during its annual Tree of Lights celebration.
Ann Maika also presented to the committee, asking for use of the upstairs hall at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre for her upcoming Christmas social shopping event for women. The first Girls Night Out happened in Barry’s Bay last month, in support of the SFVH Foundation.
All funding requests are now being submitted to council for final approval.
