The Community Development Council of Quinte is bringing a new program to Bancroft, in an effort to address the lack of affordable produce.

The non-profit organization focuses on ensuring that those living in Hastings County have the necessary means for a good quality of life. The CDC has received funding from the county to launch Good Food Markets in six communities around the region, including in Bancroft.

Program Coordinator Jim Mallabar says a market pilot project has been running successfully in Coe Hill since July. He says the new Good Food Markets will be stand-style, offering fresh fruits and vegetables year-round to those in Bancroft, Hastings Highlands and the Ottawa Valley.

The Bancroft market is launching at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints today at 10:00am. For details, click here.
