Renovations are about to begin at the Combermere Community Centre.

At Monday night’s meeting, Madawaska Valley council accepted a $103,000 tender bid from Zuracon Construction Inc. to install a new roof and lift shaft at the centre.

Chief Administrative Officer/Clerk Craig Kelley says the original tenders came back at too high of a cost, so the township decreased the size of the project to match its $165,000 budget.

He says the new lift shaft and planned bathroom upgrades will increase accessibility at the centre.
