Toronto teen who drowned in Algonquin Park did not pass mandatory swim test

A Toronto teen who drowned during a school trip to Algonquin Park did not pass a mandatory swim test done beforehand.

The Toronto District School Board says Jeremiah Perry was one of 15 students that did not pass the test, and should not have been there.

The 15-year-old went missing in Big Trout Lake after going under water and not resurfacing on July 4^th. His body was found the next day.

The school board says the boy was in the park as part of a school trip with 38 other students, along with six staff members and other volunteers.

The board says it will be looking into why safety guidelines were not followed.
