Severe thunderstorm warning issued for the area

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Madawaska Valley.

Environment Canada says severe thunderstorms could be on the way, which could cause strong winds, large hail, and heavy rain.

The weather agency says heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, and that severe thunderstorms can cause tornadoes.

If threatening weather approaches, you are being urged to take cover.
