A tornado watch has been issued for the Madawaska Valley area.
Environment Canada says severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon or early this evening, which could produce a tornado with damaging winds.
If a tornado touches down, the weather agency recommends getting inside, going to the lowest floor, and staying away from outside walls and windows.

Torrential rain and large hail are also likely.
