St. Francis Memorial Hospital is set to get a big piece of provincial funding set aside for hospitals in Ontario.

The province says $175-million will be put towards upgrades and repairs at 131 hospitals this year.

St. Francis Memorial Hospital CEO Randy Penney says $1.7-million is being given to the hospital in Barry’s Bay, for upgrades to its heating, ventilation, and electrical systems.

Meanwhile, QHC is set to receive $491,000 from that funding. That money will be split between replacing the emergency generator at North Hastings Hospital, and replacing the domestic hot water system at Belleville General Hospital.
