MPP Smith wants public feedback on marijuana legalization

The Prince Edward-Hastings MPP wants you to weigh-in on how the province should roll out marijuana legalization.

Pot is expected to be legalized across Canada by July 1st, 2018, and the province will have to establish laws to regulate its distribution, sale, and consumption. Provinces and territories will have to set out the minimum age for buying pot, although it can’t be younger than 18.

MPP Todd Smith says it’s important to get public feedback on the matter, as it’s hard for him to know what the minimum age should be in order to purchase marijuana.

As far as where pot will be sold, Smith says some have recommended the LCBO as its staff is already trained in age of majority laws.

Smith reminds everyone it is still illegal to sell pot at this time.

You have until July 31st to fill out a survey and weigh in on how Ontario should approach marijuana legalization. Click here for more information.
