The province is recognizing Eganville and District Public School for its annual Premier’s Award in Safe and Accepting Schools.
The school is being recognized for its staff taking the initiative in implementing a culturally responsive teaching method.
About 20 per cent of the school’s population is Indigenous and staff have been working closely with the Algonquin Community.
The school has also launched research into incorporating Indigenous perspectives in the province’s math curriculum alongside the Pikwakanagan First Nation.
