As concerns over fentanyl grow across Ontario, many OPP officers will soon be able to help prevent opioid overdoses.
The Killaloe OPP has announced naloxone, a nasal spray which can prevent overdoses for 20 minutes, will be given to officers to protect themselves from accidental exposure and to others in life-threatening situations.
Police say this is to address the fentanyl crisis, a drug which is 100 times more powerful than morphine.

Local health units have reported the drug’s use in the region.
Constable Philippe Regamey says all OPP officers will be trained in how to use naloxone.
