Hastings Highlands Council has approved its 2017 budget, and the tax increase for homeowners.

Treasurer David Stewart tells Hastings Highlands Council property taxes in the municipality will be going up less than one per cent a year.

For the average resident whose home is assessed at $188,000, this means a $14 annual tax increase.

The budget also has over $2.5-million set aside for the municipality’s roads.
