Hastings Highlands has approved the creation of a reserves policy.
Treasurer David Stewart says this is a long-term financial plan for the municipality.
Stewart suggests the municipality should aim to put about eight to 10 per cent of taxes into reserves every year.

He says Hastings Highlands is one of just a few municipalities with less than 20,000 residents to have this type of policy.
