If you’re driving into Barry’s Bay today you may notice a new community safety zone in place from Lakeshore Drive to Stafford Street along Highway 62.
The zone was requested by staff at MVDHS and Sherwood Secondary to help better protect students.
The request had the support of Renfrew County, the local school board and council the Madawaska Valley.
While the speed limit hasn’t change from 50 kilometres-an-hour it does mean any fine within the zone will be doubled.
The Killaloe OPP says it will be stepping up enforcement within the zone.
