Water Levels Beginning to Stabalize in Some Areas

Following a weekend of sunshine, water levels in the region fueling concerns over further flooding have either decreased or shown no increase.

Renfrew County Power Generation says the rate of rising water levels on Golden Lake has decrease from more than eight centimetres a day last week Monday to less than two centimetres over the weekend.

RCPG says Round Lake saw no rise in water levels on Saturday.

Many communities in the area stepped up emergency preparedness over the course of last week.

In the Madawaska Valley, a special council meeting was called at 11:00pm on Friday to address flooding which threatened to sweep away one residents’ home.

Crews worked into early Saturday morning to divert the water and save the home.
