The Madawaska Valley Fire Department is again reminding you to check your smoke detectors after a house fire in Barry’s Bay.
Fire Chief Corwin Quade says firefighters were able to keep the blaze back and contain it in a single room of the home and no one was hurt.
He says two smoke alarms were found to be out of date and not working.

Quade says if the fire had happened during the night while the residents of the house were sleeping it could have been a lot worse.
The fire department is picking up home inspections for fire safety after Easter.
