KAPOA Exploring Options to Bring all of Lake Kamaniskeg into the Madawaska Valley

KAPOA has officially asked the Township of Madawaska Valley to investigate the possibility of bringing all of Kamaniskeg Lake under one municipality.

The property owner’s association made their case to council last night in Barry’s Bay claiming tax increases and neglected services from Hastings Highlands have left its members looking for better options.

Association President Ed Kobylka says most of those in the area of former Bangor Township go to Barry’s Bay for all of their needs due to proximity.

Madawaska Valley’s council stressed both the complexity of redrawing municipal and county lines along with the importance of KAPOA contacting Hastings Highlands to establish its intent.

Council says in order for a restructuring of the border of former Bangor Township and the Township of Madawaska Valley there must be public, cross-county and cross-municipality consultation.
