Fraud Prevention Month Wraps Up for Local Police

We’re entering the final days of the OPP’s fraud prevention month campaign and there’s one more scam local police are spreading the word on.

Service scams refer to scammers using high-tech language to trick victims into sharing information or granting access to internet, finance or medical information.

The Killaloe OPP says the most common instance its seen deals with someone pretending to be a Microsoft or Apple technician to get access to your computer or mobile device.

Police say never let anyone access your computer, tablet or phone remotely and to report any suspicious activity as every little bit of information helps.
