The Township of Madawaska Valley is working on the draft of a new street light policy slated to take effect later this year.
Operations Manager Hilary Kutchkoskie and Operations Supervisor Mike Phillips presented the draft plan in committee meeting yesterday.
The plan lays out the process for residents who request street lights in their neighbourhoods or local roads.

The new plan will not affect taxes heading into 2017 as it will be tackled on a project-by-project basis and withdrawn from the municipality’s capital reserves.
It affects, removal, relocation and addition of street lights.
It will give both residents, council and public works better guidelines to address road safety and costs.
