Hastings County Council is working to stop the possible closures of some local elementary schools.
Quinte News reports that council wants every community in the county to work together to oppose potential school closures across the region.
This comes as the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is studying the possibility of combining and closing some schools.
In November, the school board announced it is holding off on any potential elementary school closures in North Hastings.
It is considering potential school consolidations in Belleville, Centre Hastings, and Prince Edward County.
