Two councilors from the Madawaska Valley have been brushing up on council training.

Both Ernie Peplinski and Elser-Lee Archer recently returned from a trip to Maynooth where councilors came together to learn more about policy, relationship with staff, codes of conduct and new changes to municipal legislation.

Archer says there were councilors from across the region, ranging from new to seasoned taking part in the training.

Peplinski says about 20 showed up for the session.

Both spoke on Bill-68’s upcoming changes, installing an integrity commissioner and attempting to increase accountability and transparency for municipal officials.
