OPP Issues Warning Following Increase in Wildlife Collisions

Eastern OPP detachments are asking drivers to be careful for wildlife.

Over 50 per cent of collisions police respond to involve deer, and there have been over a dozen collisions with animals since the start of winter.

Constable Phillippe Regamey says there are ways for drivers to avoid hitting animals.

Regamey says drivers should use their high beams whenever possible, slow down if you see deer warning signs, and remember that deer usually travel in packs.

The Killaloe OPP shared a heat map of wildlife collisions in the fall, with many centered around Simpson Pit Road and Highway 60 between Wilno and Killaloe.
