The Madawaska Valley Horticultural Society has been honoured by the township as the recipient of the Mayor’s Appreciation Award.

Council presented the award to the society’s president Sharon Mahussier and other members last night, during the township’s first meeting of the year.

Mayor Kim Love says the Horticultural Society’s contributions to the township can be seen everywhere, bringing the community’s green space to life.

She says everything from the Legion’s Tulip Garden, to the log planters in Barry’s Bay, the flowers on Combermere Bridge, the success of Communities in Bloom and its 26 years of history in the township made it 2016’s choice.
