Local Health Unit Getting Involved in National Non-Smoking Week

The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is helping to spread the word alongside the Canadian Cancer Society.

Many may be trying to kick the habit in the New Year as national non-smoking week begins on Monday.

The health unit says the first week is crucial for those who may be trying to quit, as you’re nearly 10 times more likely to stick with it once you’ve made it through the first seven days.

The Canadian Cancer Society’s First Week Challenge gives smokers some added incentive to quit, offering cash prizes if you track your progress.

It’s also offering other resources through a Smokers Helpline.
