If Hastings Highlands owns your shore line, you may have the opportunity to buy it from them, but it could soon cost you twice as much.

The section of land between your lake front property and a waterway is known as an Original Shore Road Allowance, and often belongs to the municipality.

You can buy these shorelines back, but the cost to do so in Hastings Highlands could be doubling on January 18th.

Council was split four to three in its decision, but the majority of members voted in favour of upping the cost to $2,000 for the first 150 lineal feet, and $3 for every foot after that.

The current price of an Original Shore Road Allowance is about $950 for 150 lineal feet, which was set in 2013.
