Prince Edward-Hastings MPP Todd Smith wants to see more provincial funding for road repairs in Hastings Highlands.
Smith addressed the legislature, asking that the government help the municipality fix a portion of Highway 62 north of Maynooth, which he says needs to be reconstructed.
Smith says that people living in the area are faced with road closures and load restrictions, which is making it hard for both residents and businesses.
Smith says the province has earmarked billions of dollars for infrastructure projects in rural communities.
Hastings Highlands CAO Pat Pilgrim says the municipality has applied for Ontario Community Infrastructure Funding to help with the project.
Pilgrim says the road repairs will cost around $10.2-million.
