The Tree of Lights event will be benefitting much needed equipment needs at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in the Madawaska Valley.
Friday’s lighting ceremony at the Barry’s Bay Railway Station drew a big crowd to the heritage site to ring in the Christmas season.
Executive Director of the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation Toni Lavigne-Conway says having the vent to benefit the hospital and be synonymous with the Christmas season is thanks to the community.
Chief Operating Officer of the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Greg McLeoud says the proceeds from this year’s Tree of Lights will be going to a much-needed renovation at the hospital’s tub room.
McLeoud says the hygiene needs of patients, especially while receiving serious treatment, are a priority for the hospital.
