Madawaska Valley’s mayor, Kim Love, says she’s surprised by the opportunity the long-term energy meeting provided her.

She says the meeting’s involved about a half hour presentation and then an hour-and-a-half of consultation with ministry staff.\

Municipal leaders were able to sit face-to-face with policy makers on energy conservation and efficiency, delivery, pricing and supply.

Love says explaining the challenges rural municipalities face in the form of delivery charges is a major issue.

Particularly in the Madawaska Valley, many seniors may have put down roots on a fixed income and with prices rising they’re unable to keep up with their bills.

Love says she’s in opposition of the province’s strides towards electric heat with hydro prices set to rise again in the new-year.
