OFSC Warning Snowmobilers not to Use Trails Early

The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is warning sledders not to take to the trails even though we’ve had our first significant snowfall.

The OFSC says safety concerns have prompted the warning as swampy areas and waterways haven’t frozen yet and local clubs haven’t completed trail maintenance.

The shallow depth of snow could also hide large obstacles which could severely injure riders.

The Opeongo Snowbirds are in the midst of preparing the trails in the Madawaska Valley and are actively looking for volunteers.

They’re hosting a special event at the Ashgrove Inn in Barry’s Bay on Thursday at 6:00pm.
