Members of the OFSC’s Snow Country District 6 are looking for volunteers to add to the various snowmobile club ranks.
President of the Opeongo Snowbirds Cheryl Reid says the positions can range anywhere from brushers, to administration or businesses staff to groomer operators.
The Opeongo Snowbirds – which service an area from the Madawaska Valley to Whitney – are holding an event for anyone who’s interested in volunteering on November 24th at 6:00pm in the Ashgrove Inn.
Community Development Coordinator for the Township of Madawaska Valley Paul Nopper says winter sports tourism represents a large positive impact on local businesses in the region.
Nopper says during peak season visiting riders could bring in anywhere from 60 to $65,000, whether it comes from accommodations, restaurants or fuel.
