Police Reminding Hunters to Keep Safety in Mind as Season Begins

Deer hunting season starts today, and police are reminding residents about firearm safety.

OPP Constable Phillipe Regamey says this includes having loaded guns in vehicles.

Regamey says it’s illegal to carry a loaded gun in a vehicle, on a motorboat, or on an ATV or side-by-side.

In some areas it is illegal to carry a loaded gun within eight metres of the road.

Police are asking you to avoid carrying visible firearms within town limits and populated areas.
