Local Police, Paramedics and Fire Crews Conduct Live Exercise at MVDHS

Fire and emergency crews showed MVDHS the somber reality of distracted and impaired driving first hand.

Crews conducted an extrication training exercise, live, in front of awe struck students and staff yesterday.

Paramedics, police officers and fire crews tended to a victim in a wrecked vehicle showing off just what it takes to conduct a roadside rescue.

Madawaska Valley Fire Chief Corwin Quade says crews have an hour to reach a real scene, conduct a rescue and get patients to a hospital.

Principal Dave Bishop says it was great to see students so engaged with the emergency crews and police.

The exercise worked in junction with the Leave the Phone Alone campaign, a joint effort between local partners to combat distracted driving.

In December, the campaign will be coming to the Madawaska Valley District High School and others in the county for a distracted driving simulation which students can take part in.
