A new Warden will soon represent Hastings County.

County Council has nominated Stirling/Rawdon Mayor Rodney Cooney to the role, which will come into effect on December 8th.

Cooney says he is honoured to have been nominated, and is looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities this will bring.

Some of his priorities include looking after rural Ontario, which means getting more funding from the provincial government, and addressing hydro rates and infrastructure.

Cooney will replace current Warden Rick Phillips, who has held the role for about four years.
