A survey could be introduced in Hastings Highlands to get feedback on how residents feel about bringing back curbside waste collection.
Council voted to approve asking staff to look into what it would take to create a ward-by-ward survey to get feedback on whether people wanted the service to be re-introduced.
The municipality has not had curbside waste collection services since near the end of 2014.
Deputy Mayor Greg Roberts suggests, if a survey were created, to wait until the results are in before deciding how the service would be rolled out, and whether it’s done in-house or through a contractor.
Treasurer David Stewart says it would be important to also provide how much it would cost to re-introduce curbside waste collection so residents could make informed decisions.
Council also discussed the importance of making sure the service would not interfere with the municipality’s five year contract on its landfills.
The information from staff will be presented to council at a later date, before a decision is made as to whether or not to go forward with the survey.
