The Connecting Link project coming to Barry’s Bay has had its start date moved up to October 17th.
It means the township will have to come up with a way to stop trucks from illegally parking across from Tim Hortons on Highway 60 sooner than expected.
Residents have contacted the municipality on multiple occasions stating the trucks are blocking driveways.
The township’s operations committee discussed barrier curbs, altering sidewalks and directing truck parking to a specific area.
Cost and public safety are both factors in finding a solution according to the committee.
Manager of Public Works Hilary Kutchkoskie says if the situation escalates it will go to enforcement and to local police.
In the event of an emergency an obstructing vehicle blocking a driveway could lead to criminal charges.
