The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP said today is the start of a province-wide safety initiative focused on roadway and waterway safety.
They said during this “unofficial” start to summer, officers with the detachment will be out in full force ensuring drivers and boaters are taking the proper safety precautions.
Police will ensure people are using the proper lifesaving equipment, such as seatbelts, helmets or lifejackets, while targeting distracted, aggressive or impaired drivers.

The campaign runs until July 5.
