Large part of eastern Ontario placed under heightened forest fire danger ratings

The Ministry of Natural Resources has placed Renfrew County under an extreme-level forest fire danger rating.

According to the provincial forest fire information map, the rating extends from Centre Hastings all the way up to the Ottawa River. It reaches from Arnprior in the east to Georgian Bay and beyond in the west, extending into parts of northern Ontario.

The map does not currently show any active fires in the area, but there are some active fires in northern Ontario, including near Sudbury and Timmins.
