County renews lease agreement for RCVTAC location in Pembroke

Renfrew County Council approved a by-law this week to renew a lease agreement with Carefor for the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre.

The lease agreement is for the clinic location in Pembroke, which county paramedic service deputy chief Mathieu Grenier said is one of five locations county-wide.

He said the service started during the pandemic to offer swabbing and vaccination services, but has continued since to provide necessary medical services to the community.

Residents can call the centre and are either connected with a physician virtually, directed to a clinic location, or referred to a service to fit their needs.

Grenier said the Pembroke location is the busiest, adding the service is an important one as it diverts many patients away from the hospital emergency department each month.

He added there was also a clinic location in Barry’s Bay for a while, but demand to keep it operating wasn’t quite there.

He said they are open to expanding and adapting the service to meet the needs of the county.
