Renfrew County is implementing new software called Arcori, aimed at improving the management of their community housing.
A report presented to county council this week highlighted the need for modernized software that can strengthen their ability to manage the wait list and maintenance requests.
Community housing manager Jennifer Dombroskie said the county operates more than 1,000 housing units, including 35 in Barry’s Bay, but the waitlist sits at 7-10 years.
Dombroskie said Arcori will help the county better understand the housing needs of the diverse population on the waitlist.
“We’ll be able to understand better the financial background, the housing history, so that we can understand how to create programs in the future for these folks,” she said.
Dombroskie said housing priority is given to people exiting situations involving abuse or trafficking, as well as those exiting the county’s newly-implemented HART hub program.
The Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment hub is a multi-sector approach to care for those experiencing homelessness, substance use or mental health challenges.
Dombroskie encourages residents to reach out to the community services team to learn about the range of programming they offer to the county.
